Dynamic presentations with Canvas & Join Data Types ...are they really that bad?

Details

Hello everybody,

it is my great pleasure to announce the first meetup of 2020!

We will have two talks at this event:

======
Dynamic presentations with Canvas

Canvas is a data visualization and presentation tool that sits within Kibana. It allows us to pull live data directly from Elasticsearch and combine it with colors, images, and text in order to create dynamic and visually appealing presentations. This talk will cover the basics of building your first presentation based on live data from Elasticsearch.

If you enjoy immersing yourself in a creative process while applying your technical skills, you should join us for this talk.

Speaker
Miloš Mandić is an Education Engineer at Elastic, based out of Amsterdam, Netherlands.
With a background in Electrical and Software Engineering, Miloš has been specializing in Search technology, NLP and Machine Learning.
He is passionate about teaching, both technical and soft skills such as Public Speaking, Communication Skills, and Team Dynamics.

======
Join Data Types ...are they really that bad?

The Join Data Type is probably one of the less known things in Elasticsearch and usually, its use should be avoided but sometimes its use can be useful and understand how it works and what is possible to achieve with it, can help to improve a design decision. Relations between documents in the same index can help applications like e-commerce, data analysis, machine learning strategies and much more.
This talk will explore how to set up a document relation, how to use it and how to avoid the main mistakes.

Speaker
With a background in software engineering Luca participated in the implementation of projects for large companies, from the banking sector to telecommunication, from e-commerce systems to user identity management. Passionate about data science and machine learning, he spends most of his time following these passions trying to keep always up to date.

As usual, there will be pizza, beer and conversation to be had around the talk if you need any encouragement :)

Best regards,
Sönke
