OPEN HOUSE Vol. 17 – Visualising Thoughts
We’re opening our doors again this year on May 21st at our Cologne Hub.
An evening dedicated to artistic perspectives, evolving ideas, and the ways meaning is shaped, challenged, and transformed through design.
This edition brings together two presentations with our Elastique. team artists — René Kauka, Beatrice Cadar, and Lisa-Marleen Mantel — presenting works created for last year project Art Innovation Gallery, alongside a special guest talk by FOREAL co-founders Benjamin and Dirk.
From raw digital forms and AI-driven interpretations to shifting symbols, fragmented aesthetics, and playful narratives, the evening explores how ideas evolve from rough concepts into immersive visual experiences.
At the same time, Benjamin and Dirk from FOREAL dive into the beauty of unfinished ideas and imperfect beginnings. Their talk explores why the roughest sketch in your notebook is often the most important one — how spontaneous drawings shape characters, rescue creative dead ends, spark entirely new directions, and sometimes become the strongest final work years later. A conversation about process, intuition, and trusting ideas before they fully make sense.

Art Innovation Gallery — Project Insights
with René Kauka, Beatrice Cadar, and Lisa-Marleen Mantel.
Get an inside look into the concepts, processes, and artistic approaches behind the exhibited works. The artists will share how their individual perspectives connect to Elastique.’s core values — exploring themes such as simplicity as a starting point, clarity as a shifting construct, beauty through transformation, and fun as a space between irony and sincerity.
Guest Talk by FOREAL — Sketches, Process & Possibility
with Benjamin and Dirk
Why are the ugliest drawings often the most valuable ones? Benjamin and Dirk share insights into the creative power of sketches, unfinished thoughts, and visual experimentation. The talk explores how rough ideas can shape narratives, redirect projects, and evolve into unexpected final outcomes — proving that imperfection is often where the strongest ideas begin.
