We're excited to announce our fourth Elixir Ruhr Meetup, and it's a special one: A collaboration with the Elixir Cologne Meetup , with barbecue at the 9elements rooftop terrace (if the weather allows).
As a speaker, we welcome Ariadne Engelbrecht . She is a software engineer at Inspired Consulting who came to code by way of carpentry and history - which may explain why she can't resist a well-built structure. She works across the whole stack, with a focus on functional programming, and a particular love for databases and accessibility.
Accessibillity by Design
Accessibility is often treated as a mere compliance checkbox or something the "UI people" worry about at the end of a project. In reality, it is a core quality attribute of software systems, and many of the biggest wins come from small decisions developers make every day.
In this talk, we look at accessibility through a Phoenix/Liveview lens, see where ARIA is needed and where native HTML already do the job.
The goal is not to make everyone an accessibility expert, but to make accessibility decisions a natural part of our everyday engineering work.

While the meetup is an on-site meetup, the talk will also be streamed. After the talk, we will be having time for networking, barbecue and drinks. If weather allows, the meetup will take place at the 9elements rooftop terrace.

The venue, food, and drinks are kindly sponsored by 9elements.
