Talk Night: (Mentally) Healthy at Work
Details
Almost all of us have felt overwhelmed, chronically stressed or anxious about work at some point. This event is about what we can all do to get through times like this and also how we can support each other.
✍️ Event description
Mental illnesses (including burnout) are responsible for more than 30% of cases of occupational disability. And the effects of chronic stress on the body and all the various ailments it causes or enhances are also well known - even if there is still a lot left to research.
Some factors causing undue stress on us are outside our control, but that doesn't mean we are helpless. There is still a lot we can do to stay healthy and promote a healthy workplace around us.
This event will focus on some of the aspects of mental health in the work place and the things we can do.
1. A practical approach to burnout
The stress and responsibilities of our jobs can take a toll on all aspects of our lives, often resulting in neglect for our own well-being and self-care. I will focus on explaining the issues and symptoms. I'll also teach you evidence-based tools that you can apply to flourish at work and in your everyday lives.
2. Psychological Safety and its impact on mental health in the workplace
An interactive discussion of psychological safety and how it impacts mental health at the workplace. We'll start with an introduction to psychological safety and why it is important and continue by discussing different aspects of psychological safety at work, including an open discussion of your experiences and points of view on how to create a workplace and teams that promote mental health.

I'm a tech nerd since childhood, a former software developer, head of engineering, and coach. I've always been passionate about technology, but the longer I've worked in tech the more that passion has grown towards culture and empowering people and teams. Right now I'm really curious to learn more about neurodiversity, positive psychology, and coaching.
