Coffee with Jung: Americanos and Alchemy
Details
Just as the moon wanes and waxes in its cycle, the journey of transformation is an enduring rhythm. Each phase in the turns of our lives evokes in us deep psychological and symbolic processes. For, we are the material of transformation. We both tend to and feel the fires that burn away the old self to reveal what will come. Jung associated the four alchemical stages of the transformation process: Nigredo (black), Albedo (white), Citrinitas (yellow), and Rubedo (red) with the stages of personal change.
We’ll begin with a short overview of Jung's work on alchemy, focusing on the theory, and include some reflections from his students. Then, we'll move into an open conversation around the themes of transformation, symbol, archetype, and resilience.
