Improv for Storytellers.

We just performed out show for the last class last night. It was amazing to see students grow so fast in only 8 weeks. We will began a new class starting next week June 13th. Don,t let this chance go by, bump up your improv storytelling skills this summer.

Do you have the basic improv skills down? Are you wishing to put those skills together and create memorable stories. Improv for storytellers is a step into the long form improv world, where we begin to create scenes that will lead to great storytelling. This class is for the students who have taken the Beginning improv class and would like to move to more complex scenes in Improv as well as perform. We will continue to add on to all the basics you learned in the basic course, giving you a chance to layer your work with more color.

You will learn

  • Basic narration skills, Beginning, middle and end to basic story structure.
  • You will learn about Tilts in a scene.
  • Basic editing skills with in scenes. Time jumps, edits to new locations,
  • Continue to explore strong characters by using your whole body.
  • Work on simple mime skills to slow your work down and create strong locations.
  • How to find your character’s objective in the scene. (What does your character need or want.)
  • Working on caring about anything in a scene, honesty, and believability.

Of course emotional work is at the core to all the work.

This class will make you a better actor/actress and a great ensemble player.

We put a strong emphasis on not being funny; the humor derives from the moment.
This class will lead you into basic Long Form Improv scene work.
This class is for students really wanting to become a better story tellers as an improviser and to veer away from only being funny.
The humor derives from being believable in the scenes and listening to your fellow player.
