Rust for curious developers

Details

It seems like everybody and their dog is gushing about Rust, so what’s the deal? Let’s hear it from a seasoned web developer, who after decades of working with the web rekindled his love for software development through a systems programming language. We’ll hear about memory management, zero-cost abstractions, and fearless concurrency, and see what Rust brings on the table for web developers.

Stefan Baumgartner is a software architect working at Dynatrace. He is the author of “TypeScript in 50 Lessons”, published by Smashing Magazine, and runs workshops and trainings at [http://oida.dev](https://t.co/ENBtXLCIPJ). Stefan enjoys Italian food, Belgian beer and British vinyl records.

SPONSOR: Smashing Magazine

Founded in September 2006 in Germany, Smashing Magazine delivers reliable, useful, but most importantly practical articles to web designers and developers. We don’t care about trends; we care about things that work or fail in actual projects. We are — and always have been — independent. 14+ years, and still ongoing.

GOODIE TIME!

At this event Smashing Magazine supports us with the following goodies:

We'll raffle a few print & ebook bundles of Stefan's Typescript book (worth 44€!) for all participants in the Youtube livestream

Also, for members of our community, Smashing provides a nice 20% discount for their upcoming SmashingConf:

"SmashingConf is coming back to Freiburg, where it all started for Smashing Magazine! We are doing another — 2-day single-track — web design and development conference, with topics like Product Design, Front-end, and Accessibility. There are also hands-on and practical workshops, where you can learn practical new skills, or choose for online conference tickets."

This discount applies to all types of tickets (conference, online, workshops and bundles). You can use this discount link.

Thanks a lot to Smashing Magazine for supporting our community with this!

See you on August, 18th at 18:30 on Youtube :)
