Herkömmliche Sprachmodelle sind oft durch ihren statischen Wissensstand limitiert. In diesem Vortrag zeige ich, wie das Model Context Protocol (MCP) diese Grenzen sprengt, indem es eine standardisierte Schnittstelle zwischen LLMs und externen Datenquellen schafft. Am Praxisbeispiel eines "TrainAI Assistant" – entwickelt mit Genkit und TypeScript – untersuchen wir die Architektur eines MCP-Servers, die Anbindung der DB-Timetable-API und die Erstellung agentischer Workflows, die komplexe Reiseanfragen in Echtzeit präzise beantworten können.

Traditional LLMs are often limited by their training data cutoff. This talk demonstrates how the Model Context Protocol (MCP) overcomes these boundaries by providing a standardized bridge between AI models and local or remote data sources. Using the practical example of a "TrainAI Assistant" built with Genkit and TypeScript, we explore the implementation of an MCP server for the Deutsche Bahn API. We’ll dive into how to create agentic workflows that connect high-level reasoning with dynamic, real-world data to provide accurate, real-time travel information.
