Three awesome talks are awaiting us!
Journey to "One Monitoring@Schwarz" via Grafana (20min)
Philipp Rohierse, Schwarz IT
Abstract: With the ever increasing amount of monitoring tools that get implemented within an organisation the customer is confronted by a myriad of different output formats and GUI's for the monitoring landscape. To counteract this overload of monitoring tools we started the "One Monitoring" initiative where we both consolidate monitoring tools and provide a central managed Grafana service so our customers have a single streamlined entrypoint into our monitoring landscape.
We will take you with us on an recollection of our journey so far, providing an overview of our current Grafana as a Service and how our customers experience One Monitoring@Schwarz.
Bio: Philipp Rohierse is product owner for Prometheus & Grafana, Engineer and an automation enthusiast.
OpenTelemetry and Kafka: Trace your request from browser to backend
Sebastian Poxhofer, Senior SRE at N26
Abstract: Most companies have adopted or plan to adopt a microservice and asynchronous architecture, but these changes introduce more failure points and make debugging such systems complicated. This challenge has been tackled by multiple companies but each locks you in their ecosystem. This problem and more get solved by OpenTelemetry by providing an open standard and open source tooling. The presentation will lead you through the principles and basics of OpenTelemetry and show you its capabilities regarding sync and async instrumentation with the official OpenTelemetry demo as an example.
Bio: Sebastian Poxhofer is software engineer, SRE, open-source enthusiast and freelancer with a focus on release management and monitoring systems in distributed systems like Kubernetes. He is a member of OpenTelemetry, collaborator at RenovateBot and contributor to Grafana and others in the Prometheus or Kubernetes ecosystem. You can find him on Github and other places under the name @secustor.
OpenTelemetry with Grafana (30min)
Fabian Stäber, Sr. Engineering Manager at Grafana Labs
Abstract: As a follow-up to Sebastian's talk, we demo how to use OpenTelemetry data in Grafana. We'll look at metrics in Mimir, traces in Tempo, and logs in Loki. This will be an interactive live demo.
Bio: Dr. Fabian Stäber is engineering manager and monitoring enthusiast at Grafana. He is a member of the Prometheus open source project, where he is maintainer of the Prometheus Java client library and the JMX exporter. At Grafana Fabian has his focus on application monitoring with OpenTelemetry.
