Let's meet in August and talk about journalism and technology! We have the following amazing speakers for you!

Basile Simon (@basilesimon (https://twitter.com/basilesimon)) will speak about the main challenges we face at Airwars (monitoring international airstrikes), a typical example of a collaboration between hacks and hackers. From literacy issues to the loneliness of being a one-man band, I'll walk us through how we make things work and how I addressed our struggles since we started monitoring bombings in Iraq and Syria two years ago, and since grew to a 10ish-strong team. Basile runs Airwars.org's data engines and build data-visualisations and workflows for our team of journalists and researchers. Formerly at BBC News Labs and soon to join the Times and Sunday Times Digital Team in September as a Newsroom Developer.
