Free Drawing Workshop: Turn yourself or your loved ones into a fantasy character

This is not just a character design workshop — it’s a storytelling experience.

In this creative session, you’ll design a fantasy or sci-fi character based on a real person: yourself or someone you know. Whether it's your mom’s magical gardening skills, your best friend's chaotic brain, or your own inner world — we’ll guide you through turning those real traits and stories into compelling visual elements, based on the idea of ‘basic shapes'

You’ll learn how to:
Turn narrative into visual design through mind maps, keywords, and visual research
Use basic principles like shape language, silhouette, and pose to express personality

By the end, you'll walk away with an original character design that’s rich with story, emotion, and imagination.

🛠️ What to Bring
Drawing tools (iPad, sketchbook, pens, etc.)
A photo, story, or object that reminds you of the person(don’t need to be printed. Photos in your phones are enough!)
A phone or any digital devices that can access wifi in the library(for visual research)
Openness to mix emotion, narrative, and imagination

And most importantly, as this workshop’s focus is about turning a narrative into visual narrative, you need to have some ideas about the character you want to draw in your mind.
For example, if you want to make a character that represents you, make a story arc of the character before you come to this workshop. You might want to represent yourself as a warrior in classic fantasy, Sci-Fi style gardner or Steam-punk robot.
Bring such ideas and narratives of a character and we will turn that into a visually appealing character that you can actually ’see’.
