We'll be in the Collaboration Room in the far right corner of Richard Tucker Library for the third of our Halloween horror movies, a slow-burn epic that I thought of a bit when we were watching Salem's Lot.

RUNTIME: 156 minutes

SYNOPSIS (via Apple TV): In this unbelievably tense supernatural thriller, a foreigner’s mysterious appearance in a quiet, rural village causes suspicion among the locals – suspicion which quickly turns to hysteria as the townspeople begin killing each other in brutal outbursts for seemingly no reason. As the investigating officer watches his daughter fall under the same savage spell, he agrees to consult a shaman for answers –unknowingly escalating the situation into something far more dangerous.

BLURBS:
"The Wailing has echoes of The Exorcist, but it is often even bleaker than that 1973 horror classic. I was not merely scared, but heartbroken." - Glen Kenny, The New York Times

"The film justifies its epic length, meshing ancient east Asian mythology and rituals with more recognizable horror tropes in a way that feels novel and unpredictable." - Leah Pickett, Chicago Reader

"A stupendously entertaining movie, crammed with delights." - Tom Huddleston, Time Out
