#3 The Loom of Time: Sacred Threads of Patience and Acceptance

Details

This gathering turns to patience and acceptance as two essential mindfulness attitudes that help us stay grounded and balanced amid the ever-changing nature of life. On the loom of time, patience becomes a quiet rhythm—a gentle release of rushing—that allows us to breathe with time itself, cultivating confidence and trust in unfolding complexity, like a butterfly in its cocoon. Acceptance, in turn, is the active recognition of life’s cycles: embracing imperfection, contrasts, and change as integral parts of the wholeness of being. Together, these qualities encourage us to rest more fully in the present moment, neither hurrying forward nor holding on to the past.

Our journey will weave through the art of ancient Mesopotamia and Greek myths that honor surrender to life’s rhythm, before turning to works from the late medieval to modern period that embody steadfastness and equanimity. We will reflect on artists whose creative paths were shaped by these virtues, and finally, on the literary worlds of prominent authors, where protagonists embody patience and acceptance as transformative forces. In this flow of images, stories, and lives, the threads of patience and acceptance reveal their power to guide creativity, inspire reflection and deepen human understanding.

Through a gentle mindfulness practice and a self-compassion meditation, the evening will open space to let go of urgency, soften the heart, and welcome the boundless presence of love. Inspired by these stories, we will be invited to weave patience and acceptance into the fabric of our own lives.
