This month we have the big pleasure to welcome Philipp Jeske to our user group. Philipp has been programming professionally for over 15 years. Initially as a working student alongside his computer science degree, with his degree he transitioned into a full time full stack .NET developer. But even back then, C++ was close to his heart.

Thanks to a job change he finally could programm with C++ for a living and he has been doing it for 7-ish years.
Due to his career path, he was exposed to many legacy project, joined various teams and learned the value of good designed and well written code. Furthermore, he learned, that good design and good code is independent of any language. But he also learned that bringing in ideas, can sometimes backfire devastatingly.

This all brought him to the point, where he strives to write good code, and increases his toolbox - especially in contemporary C++. But after all he's also interested in the people site, because that's the hard neglected part of writing good software as a team.

Abstract
Ever felt stuck in a legacy codebase with a team - or at least parts of it - that resists change? I’ve been there. In this session, I’ll share practical tactics to help you introduce modern programming styles to a conservative environment—or at least keep your own passion alive while working in one. We’ll dive into the psychology of why some developers resist new practices and I’ll share the technical maneuvers I use to write contemporary code within a legacy framework.
