Dance with Your Parts - IFS Inspired Dance Meditation
Details
An IFS-inspired dance meditation
Many of us are familiar with internal monologues: thoughts going in circles, patterns repeating, feelings persisting.
What if we could enter an internal dialogue instead? What if we could explore and relate to our own parts without merging with our anger, our sadness, or our fears?
What if we could do it with movement?
This experiential movement practice is inspired by Internal Family Systems (IFS) and explores the inner landscape of our psyche through music, movement, and embodied awareness. Through guided prompts and free dance we will learn to notice our parts, express them through movement, and gently unblend from them.
In IFS language we sometimes speak about managers, firefighters, and exiles. These are the parts of us that organize our lives, react when things become overwhelming, or carry deeper emotional experiences.
During this evening we may dance with the part that keeps us productive, the one that cares about others’ opinions, the one that wants to stay busy, or the one that prefers complete freedom. Some parts are protective, some playful, and some carry vulnerability. Some move with ease, others with passion, and some need help getting to the movement.
Rather than analyzing these parts with words, we allow the body to express them.
Through movement we can stay present with the energy of a feeling and allow it to move, breathe, and transform.
Expect music, gentle guidance, moments of stillness, and space for free movement.
Participants often experience:
• feeling more connected to themselves
• releasing tension through movement
• more compassion for their inner parts
• a playful and embodied way of relating to emotions
No dance experience needed. Just curiosity and a willingness to move.
