FAIR Data in Life Science

Details
Dear Attendees, looking forward to seeing you all this evening! Here's the meeting link, just in case, since Meetup won't allow to upload this link the usual way. https://bit.ly/3KksvnP
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fellow data science lovers,
this time, we are talking about a very useful set of generic guidelines. Did you guess it? FAIR Data in Life Science!
FAIR Data Principles describe the importance of making data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, & Reusable – a theme which has grown considerably in just the past couple of years. Join our free ADSM event to deepen your knowledge in FAIR Data Principles.
Sessions will include:
- FAIR data guidelines
- FAIR principles
- Best pratices to Fairification
- …
Our meetups are intended to share knowledge from industry experts - so nothing for you to prepare! Simply enjoy and if you'd like to ask questions, here's your chance :-)
To that end, we have invited...
…. Arne Balzer who studied M.Sc. Biology at RWTH in Aachen and joined OSTHUS in March 2019 as a working student. Today he is one of our Life Science Informatics Consultant.
In his talk he will give insights into:
- Growing importance of "data" in (life) science
- Why is the value of data not realized?
- FAIR principles relevant for life science
- Best pratice approaches to Fairification
We are happy to announce our second speaker, Rolf Grigat, from Bayer AG in Leverkusen. Rolf works for the central IT and manages tools and services for anyone in the Corporation who wants to improve on Data Management and the FAIRness of data.
And that is what Rolf will talk about:
Bayer, founded in 1863, is a long existing company and currently on its path of digitization. Obviously a company with this kind of history comes with a lot of data that need FAIR data principles as a basis for succeeding in digitization. In a nutshell, Rolf will give insights into how Bayer managed to implement FAIR, which tools they used to accomplish Findability (the basis without which “AIR” would not be possible) and what the open source tool COLID has to do with it all.
You are intersted to present yourself? We're happy to hear your pitch! 😊
Simply reach out to us through this group or send us an email to media@osthus.com
Remember, that your presentation should fit our overall FAIR Data theme and have knowledge sharing as a goal.
