The Plan:
Sometimes one has to pause and smell the metaphorical roses. 🌹
On this rare occasion, we take it easy with a smaller, slower walk than usual, on one beautiful continuous path along the long, summery Scharmützelsee Marina. Last time I visited I was in loud awe with the place, so I'm really looking forward to it :)
On the way, we will find a scenic beach (swimming option for those who dare and bring their swimming gear, 🏊♂️ (I think FKK not allowed in this one), climb some light hills and do an ice-cream and coffee break 🍦 by a bench on a park named after some Fontane guy we totally have never heard about before 🙄
But best of all, we celebrate Jan's special day! At the end of the walk we abandon poor poor him on the Bad Saarow Therme, enjoying his sauna and spa experience (free for birthday folk).
If someone is curious about the spa and might want to join him, make sure to ask him on Telegram. This is the place. Need to bring swimsuit, clean slippers and a towel or two: https://www.saarowtherme.de/preise-der-saarowtherme.
The rest of us close the day with a train to Berlin, ultimately connecting to the always handy RE1.
------
To arrive timely to Wendisch Rietz, we take the RB36 at Konigs Wusterhausen, 10:33 am. Make sure to be on time as trains are once an hour.
I start the trip from Ostkreuz, RE7 at 10:02.
Return time flexible, we dont spend the hike looking at the clock.
See you there!
