3. PostgreSQL User Group NRW MeetUp (Essen, Zeche Zollverein, Accenture)

Details
After Cologne and Aachen the PUG NRW Community will go to Essen, the city from PGconf.DE 2023. But instead using in the same venue we are heading to the destination from the side trip: Zeche Zollverein, to be precisely the on this area located "Industry X Innovationcenter" from Accenture, who is sponsoring this time.
This time we'll go with full Christoph-Power!
Christoph Mönch-Teggeder (Accenture) -
"Incremental Backups in PostgreSQL 17 – Theory, best practice and Tools"
With version 17, PostgreSQL supports incremental backups out of the box. In this talk, we will take a look at how incremental backup and the restore process works overall and what new capabilities like validation of backups we'll get. In addition to the tools from the PostgreSQL core we will also look at the integration with other comprehensive backup- and restore tools.
Christoph Mönch-Teggeder is a data engineering consultant at Accenture. His main focus are PostgreSQL operations and migrations. Beside that he is also a contributor in the FreeBSD Community. He lives in Karlsruhe, south-western Germany.
--------------
Christoph Berg (Cybertec) - "UNDELETE data FROM table;"
PostgreSQL is very good at keeping your data safe.
But unfortunately, that also holds the other way round:
something that has been deleted will stay deleted. In this talk, we look at practical options to UNdelete data from tables. Ingredients are backups, transaction IDs, pg_dirtyread and full page inserts. From the maintainer of pg_dirtyread.
Christoph Berg is PostgreSQL major contributor and Senior PostgreSQL Engineer at Cybertec. His topics include PostgreSQL administration, development, trainings and consulting.
Christoph is member of the Debian Project where he maintains PostgreSQL-related packages and works in the quality assurance team. He is a passionate radio amateur active on shortwave.
Of course there will be enough time for networking and exchange including snacks, warm and cold drinks. :-)
Due to room requirements, the number of participants is of course limited. Anyone interested in PostgreSQL is welcome, but I ask that you only register seriously and, if necessary, release the slot if you are unable to attend.
Best regards
Dirk
