How to find us:
We will have a table in the bar. You can tell hostess or bartender that you're here for the meetup group, and they will point you in the right direction. Some of us may be at the bar if you arrive right on time.

**Event Description:**
We’re coming together to recognize the incredible dedication and sacrifices made by front-line workers during COVID and to stand in solidarity with all who advocate for better healthcare and workplace protections. Whether you're a healthcare professional, or you just want to show your appreciation, join us for a day of fun at our **Community Cookout: Honoring Healthcare Heroes**, organized by Leftist-Progressive Night Out! As progressives, we know community care is key, and we can’t wait to celebrate the heroes who embodied the spirit of toughness, dedication, and bravery in the middle of a world-wide crisis.
**Food & Donations:**
We'll have a limited supply of burgers, hotdogs, and veggie burgers available for our healthcare heroes, and any donations you offer will help us boost that supply. To keep everyone comfortable, we’re asking everyone else to **bring your own food (BYOF)**. This way, everyone can share in the fun while feeling confident about their own health and safety preferences.
**What to Bring:**

* **Seating & Shade**: chairs, blankets, sunscreen, or hats—anything you need to stay cozy outdoors.
* **Games & Good Times**: kids and pets are welcome, so feel free to bring frisbees, board games, or anything else to keep the fun rolling.
* **Community Spirit**: we encourage open conversations about how we can continue supporting healthcare workers, and how healthcare workers and progressives can work with each other to achieve common goals.

Together, we’ll enjoy good company, show our appreciation for the everyday heroes in our midst, and strengthen our connections in a relaxed, family-friendly setting. Let’s bring our collective energy to honor the people who looked after our communities—then and now!

The [Recess Bar](https://www.recessbarnj.com/) in Parsippany, NJ is the perfect place for friends and strangers to gather over games and drinks in a fun, low-pressure environment that still carries a bit of purpose. they have over 100 board games, PS4, PS5, XBox series x, and Switch. outside food is allowed. While the broader gaming scene is often shaped by loud voices with a hateful slant, this event offers a subtle alternative—a space where progressive folks can just enjoy themselves, meet new people, and play everything from Mario Kart to pool without the usual baggage. Leftist game night is about reclaiming fun, connection, and a sense of belonging in a scene that used to be for everyone.
