ProductTank Bonn #6: Establishing A Product Mindset

Wuddup, dear product folks in Bonn!
This time we have not just one, but two fantastic speakers and we're pleased to have them share their spoils of experience.

We all know the struggle of arbitrary roadmaps, last-minute scope changes, lack of outcomes and missing ownership. And there are days where we wished our organizations had a bit more of a product sense. And while a big bang revolutionary approach to become "product-led" or any of the other fancy terms sounds enticing, going the more quiet evolutionary route is usually the smarter approach. Luckily, we were able to convince Alex and Juliana to talk about the hard peu-à-peu ways of establishing a product mindset in their companies in real-world scenarios. Alex' talk will be about hiring the right roles and people for diverse thinking and perspectives, how to build a shared understanding through training, a gradual shift towards thinking in outcomes (and, yes, how OKRs helped with that) as well as how to handle customers and stakeholders with more antiquated mindsets that clash with ours.

Juliana has joined competitionline about 10 months ago to weave customer centricity into every part of the business—without turning it into a religion. Juliana shares some of the hard work of championing this mindset, justifying the effort it takes and how she brings pragmatic, function-by-function adoption as well as what makes it resonate with different teams in their day-to-day work.
