PyLadies Südwest - Hackathon and PyCon Raffle

Details

After taking a break for a bit, we are happy to invite you to our first meetup in 2024, which will take place remotely on February 5th :) Registered participants will receive a message with the link for the online event on the day before the event.

We will start the Meetup by presenting you Python-related news from the community. After this, we will split in groups of 3-4 persons and have a go at the currently running Women in DataScience (WIDS) datathon challenge (https://www.kaggle.com/competitions/widsdatathon2024-challenge1)! In this datathon, a unique oncology dataset is provided. The aim of the datathon is to develop a model to predict metastatic cancer diagnoses and to uncover disparities in healthcare access.

At the end of our meetup, you have the chance participate in a raffle to win a ticket for the PyCon & PyData Conference 2024 in Berlin (April 22-24, regular price 400 €)!

Finally, we will finish the Meetup with a digital after-coding-challenge- drink and get-together.

> > Gender policy
> > We believe knowledge is for all and thus anyone with an interest in Python is encouraged to participate. At the same time, our events primarily aim at promoting diversity in the tech community, therefore we particularly appreciate when non-women attendees come with a female plus one to ensure gender balance. PyLadies groups exist around the world and aim to provide a friendly support network for women and a bridge to the larger Python community.

> > Code of Conduct
> > We follow the global PyLadies Code of Conduct (https://www.pyladies.com/CodeOfConduct/) because we are dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, welcoming, and harassment-free space and experience for all members and guests, regardless of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, socioeconomic status, body size, ethnicity, nationality, level of experience, age, or religion (or lack thereof). We do not tolerate harassment in any form and we prioritise marginalised people’s safety over privileged people’s comfort.
