The Joy of SciPy – Python User Group Meeting

Python has a long tradition in the scientific world and has built up additional momentum and interest, recently. This presentation gives a broad overview of packages and tools that Python puts on the table of researchers and data analysts. Doing so it becomes an increasingly viable alternative to more closed environments like Mathematica and Matlab, while offering all the «batteries» Python users have come to appreciate. The presentation will be highly interactive with demos in the IPython shell and notebook and make a case also for non-scientific users to share the «Joy of SciPy» during their interaction with data even on a lower level.
