Eze Nietzsche Trail - Fort de la Revère
Details
Hello fellow hikers!
To quote Nietzsche:
"Against bad diet.-- Phooey on the meals people cook these days, in restaurants as well as everywhere society's well-to-do class resides!"
What could be better against bad diet than a picnic outdoors in the sunny and warm Rivera spring overlooking the meds?
The hike is relatively easy but needs a bit of base condition. Bring some nice food along for a lunch break with the perfect sea view.
The weather forecast for the weekend looks good, thus I suggest a classic spring hike, the Nietzsche trail in Eze going up to Fort de la Revère (700m), starting from Eze bord de mer.
The hike crisscrosses from the basse corniche to Eze Village (430m) and then continues further up. The philosopher Nietzsche was known to hike up and down that track, the lower part being in the forest, while the top opens the view over the bay of Villefranche and from Antibes in the west to Italy in the east with the mountains of the Mercantour as backdrop.
The high point of the circuit is the old fortification and it is also the perfect place for our picnic.
Meeting time: 10h00 (we'll wait for the TER trains and bus)
Time to go up: about 2h, about a good hour for picnic on top of Mt Bastide
