Empowering Women in Data (Science)

Details
R-Ladies Cologne is kicking off with a roundtable on "Empowering Women in Data (Science)" on February 21, 2022, at 7 pm CET. We are excited to have four fantastic speakers from across the globe working in different fields to share their experiences, tips, tricks, and challenges with us! 🚀
Our four amazing panelists are:
✨ Alison Hill (Ph.D., Senior Data Scientist, AI Strategy & Innovation @IBM)
✨ Ana Carolina Leote (PhD Candidate @ Cologne Graduate School of Ageing Research)
✨ Angélica Becerra (Data Scientist @ cynkra GmbH)
✨ Nina Hauser (Head of Data Literacy @ CorrelAid e.V.)
To learn more about our speakers before the event, have a look at their short introductions.
Alison Hill, Ph.D., Senior Data Scientist, AI Strategy & Innovation @IBM
I am a data scientist, behavioral scientist, and award-winning educator. I work on creating online experiences to bring machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) problems and solutions to life. My goal is to make AI more approachable, understandable, and empowering. For 3 years, I worked at RStudio, where most recently I was the Product Manager for Data Science Communication. I am also a co-developer of the `palmerpenguins`, `distill`, and `blogdown` R packages, as well an author and international keynote speaker.
Ana Carolina Leote, PhD Candidate @ Cologne Graduate School of Ageing Research
Carolina moved from Lisbon to Cologne in order to pursue her PhD in Bioinformatics. She uses R and data science to make sense of high throughput biological data and learn about human health and ageing.
Angélica Becerra, Data Scientist @ cynkra GmbH
Angelica is a statistician and data scientist with experience in consulting governmental offices on developing large-scale survey studies and statistical analysis. Angelica has an M.Sc. in Social and Economic Data Analysis from the University of Konstanz, Germany. After her studies, she has developed data analysis projects using R and Python with a strong focus on data cleansing, data visualization, web scraping, and automated reports.
Nina Hauser, Head of Data Literacy @ CorrelAid e.V.
Nina works as Head of Data Literacy at CorrelAid e.V. and helps social organizations keep track of the buzzword jungle around Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. As a data scientist (trained at Imperial College London) and ex-Deloitte, she knows the consulting jargon that makes Data Science omnipresent - but also exclusive. Her more pragmatic view today is based on her experience working for the World Food Programme and as an impact measurement consultant.
To join the event, sign up on Meetup - we will share the Zoom link with the registered participants beforehand.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming you all to our kick-off meeting! ☺️
