Welcome to Sachsenhausen Book Club!
Our book club started in 2014, when a couple of friends living in Sachsenhausen thought it would be great to meet some more people - and why not do that with books and wine :)
Although we no longer meet in Sachsenhausen, the book club spirit remains. We are still a community of avid readers, and for most of us our bookshelves are too full and our reading time is too short!
We welcome recommendations across genres, topics, countries, and cultures. In our meetups we bring together a small group of people to discuss their thoughts, feelings and reactions to the book - be they good, bad or somewhat indifferent.
We run both a Saturday (afternoon) and Wednesday (evening) group, each meeting once a month. Sometimes we will also host additional meetups, e.g around the book fair, readings, book swaps or film tie-ins.
Our meetups are open but have a participation limit (usually 10-12 people) so that we can hear each other and have a good discussion as a group. Before you sign up please make sure to check your availability; last minute cancellations often mean fewer participants because reading the book needs some advance notice! If you have to cancel, please do so in good time to give other book lovers a fair chance to join.
If you do not get a place for the next meetup please check back for future meetings, and feel free to read the book anyway in case you get a waitlist spot.
