Über uns
Hello! This group is dedicated to adults who love camping. Our meetups are focused on multi-day camping trips and most trips will be on the weekends. We will have approximately 1 meet-up every month. Most trips will require traveling to a state park or public lands & carpooling will be available. Some of the trips will be primitive and others will be site-camping trips. All skill levels are welcome!
This is not a dating club. We are group-oriented and safety-focused. The goal is to meet new people and have a great time being outdoors!
If you join, please remember to leave all ego and pride at home and come with a great attitude. We hope you decide to join us and we can’t wait until our next meet-up!!!
***Frequently Asked Questions***
- Are dogs allowed on the trips?
- No, unfortunately not. For many reasons, Furry friends must stay home.
- Are children allowed?
- We require everyone to be 21 or older (with limited exceptions on some events).
- Can we bring friends or a spouse?
- Yes, absolutely! However, everyone needs a profile (for safety reasons).
- What equipment do I need?
- Typically a tent, an air mattress/sleeping pad, and whatever bedding you need to feel comfortable for a typical trip, backpacking may require slightly different gear. If you're curious about camping but don't have the gear and are unsure if you want to shell out the $$$ to try it, get with Scott or Chad; we have loaner equipment available on a limited basis.

The Third Annual Glamping Event -- Potluck Signup Sheet
Hello campers, we're "kicking it up a notch" once more this year with our third annual glamping event. Glamping is just camping on steroids, at least how we do it at SACC. Bring everything you can cram into your car and set up your rendition of the sweetest camping spot. In years past, we've had chandeliers, a full bathroom, Christmas trees, a pinwheel garden, etc. Let your imagination run wild.
Since Scott will be out of town during his birthday, we'll be hosting a belated birthday bash Friday night in his honor. Bring a steak for Chad to sear and a witty birthday retort with which to roast Scott. Yes, that kinda roast!Saturday & Sunday mornings, we'll provide fresh-brewed coffee and a delectable breakfast each day.
Throughout the day on Saturday, we will have table games, yard games, music, and hikes to satisfy your sense of adventure. If you have a fun game you'd like to share, please bring it with you! Also, since Canyon Lake once again has water, thanks to the wet summer we've had, be sure to bring water toys for fun in/on the lake.
For Saturday's dinner & a movie, we'll be serving up burgers with potluck fixings and sides and watching one of Scott's favorite movies, Hot Rod. Be sure to check the signup sheet (link at the top) to see what you can help out with.
We'll be judging what everyone has come up with for their glamping spot and will be awarding "campwarming" presents to the top spots Saturday evening (SACC hosts will judge and will not be eligible).
And of course, what would a SACC Glamping Event be without a multi-day scavenger hunt? We'll have one of those too. This event is being held at Potters Creek Park at Group Site 1. This site features a large, covered structure with picnic tables, water, electricity, a fire pit, and grills.
The site can accommodate a large number of people, but parking is limited to 22 vehicles, so CARPOOLING IS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED!!!The fee for this trip is just $25, payable to Chad via Venmo or PayPal (@chadwestes or 210-870-4133).
As always, your RSVP only shows your interest and gets you on the waitlist. Once you've paid your fees, you'll be moved to the going list.
Please be aware that you are participating in this event at your own risk. We cannot take responsibility for your safety or provide medical assistance. Additionally, please note that no dogs or individuals under 21 years of age are allowed. We are unable to offer refunds for cancellations past August 29th. - Friendsgiving in Dinosaur Valley State ParkDinosaur Valley State Park, Glen Rose, TX
Join us for a post-Thanksgiving outdoor excursion in the Valley of the Dinos!!!
Dinosaur Valley State Park is renowned for its abundance of prehistoric tracks and life-size dinosaur models. We've managed to secure a family-style camping spot, which will accommodate up to 18 campers joining us on this trip. SACC will provide breakfast both Saturday and Sunday mornings, host a hike to explore the local attractions on Saturday, and we've organized a potluck dinner for Friday and Saturday nights.
