Title: Fuck up story of lighting a spark in the Kubernetes sea

Abstract:
Big data, Spark, Kubernetes - you may have heard these buzzwords far too many times. Have you ever thought of combining all of them? Running spark jobs on Kubernetes - sounds intriguing! But sailing the unknown see always goes with a challenge, and not even one. And who knows what is hiding deep in the water? If you are ready, let’s embark on this dangerous yet exciting journey.

In this talk, Roksolana will share her experience working with new Spark operator for Kubernetes which allows running Spark jobs on Kubernetes in a more automated way. The audience will find out about all the challenges her team encountered during both the research and project development stages. How they came all the way through using Spark operator alpha version which then got updated to beta (you know, updates). How they solved all the problems and the results of the intense 8 months.

About the speaker:
Roksolana is a Big Data Developer at Captify, Women Who Code Kyiv Data Engineering Lead and member of the Scala Kyiv user group. She is passionate about Kubernetes, functional programming, and traveling.

Technicalities

• Get to MOIA's office is best by public transport. Travel to Hauptbahnhof (central station) and take the exit "Washington Platz". From there it is a 5 minutes walk to the office
• The office and meetup space are on the first floor. At the entrance of the building, meetup signs will guide you the way and we will welcome you at the entrance as well. In case nobody is there, just ring the bell and we let you in
