Talk: Farewell Any => Unit, welcome Akka Typed!
Details
Heiko will talk about Akka Typed: Akka has become a very successful platform for building reactive systems. At its core the akka-actor module implements the actor model as created by Carl Hewitt et al. Surprisingly enough, although Scala and Java are type safe languages, Akka actors are untyped: we can send `Any` message to an actor even though it will only handle specific ones – the compiler is not able to help us. Fortunately rescue is at hand in the form of Akka Typed. In this talk we introduce its API, discuss differences between the "old and new" world and show options for migration and integration.
Our host codecentric makes sure that there will be drinks including beer. Please notice that due to the high no-show rates during past events we won't have pizza or such, i.e. grab some food before or drink more beer.
