Learning LAST principles from Melbourne’s Weather by Aurelien Marando

Details

Resolve Melbournians’ daily problem with Lean Start-Up and Advance Paper Prototyping!

Workshop Overview
"Welcome to Melbourne! If you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes."
This interactive session will see us build advanced paper prototypes and reflect on Lean Start-up principles applied to product development in organisations.

We will practically demonstrate that:

1. You don't need more than 5 minutes and $3 to generate great value.
2. Every non validated effort beyond this scale may just be waste.
3. You have all the means necessary to stop yourself (or your Org.) from wasting so much.

Using Melbourne's weather as a theme will give us a perfect playground and highlight how important it is to question the value brought by things that are established.
Shy inventors or Product Managers with tight constraints will also have an opportunity to understand that an idea is never too big and learn a good way to start getting their dreams into reality.

Lean Start-up:
We will design solutions to solve Melbournians’ frustration toward their changing weather. We will build advanced paper prototypes and test them with real people to validate our assumptions and prove we have something worth taking forward.
Running through the lean start-up cycle twice in an hour with little to no investment in material practically showcases to participants the opportunity brought by the method.

Advanced Paper prototyping:
It is possible to immerse customers into a fully fletched experience without spending a fortune.
Using advanced paper prototyping techniques we will build demos of our solutions that feel more than real to achieve the most important step of solution development: getting feedback.
Participants will be given material, ready to use templates and inspiration for basic layout and components to accelerate their prototype build.

Learning Outcomes
● Explain and apply Lean-Startup approach and advanced paper prototyping techniques
● Articulate value in terms of learning, intellectual property and demonstrated outcomes
● Demonstrate the necessity to quickly build MVPs of our ideas, start testing them in real context to get feedback early on.

Target Audience
Anyone, especially those frustrated when Weather apps change their mind at the last minute.

Prerequisites for Attendees
None.
