CLUB DRAMATURGIE: HEDDA GABLER

The next Club Dramaturgie meeting will take place on Saturday, September 26 at 19:00, and this time we’ll be discussing Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler.
Written in 1890, Hedda Gabler follows the newly married Hedda Tesman, who has returned from her honeymoon to a comfortable life that she seems to find almost unbearably boring. Trapped between the expectations of marriage, respectability, and conventional femininity — but also driven by her own desire for freedom, influence, and control — Hedda begins manipulating the lives of the people around her, with increasingly destructive consequences.🔫

Club Dramaturgie is an informal discussion group and community for theatre-makers, actors, directors, writers, dramaturgs — and anyone who simply loves theatre. Our goal is to learn to understand plays better by discussing them with others.

Everyone is expected to read the play beforehand (but if you don’t, you can just fake it 😉). Then we meet up, drink some tea, have some cookies, listen to a short lecture, and discuss the piece. After our discussion, we analyse one scene from the play and maybe even get it on its feet!
Our goal is to create a relaxed space where we can practise discussing theatre with others, exchange perspectives, get nerdy, and hopefully leave seeing the text differently than when we arrived.
