Lichter Video Art Award & Coffee
Details
The Lichter Movie Festival comes with a few accompanying events. Today we check out the winning movies of the Lichter Art Award, which are shown in loops in an interesting temporary venue in the centre of Frankfurt. These are short to medium-length movies and video animations, closer to the kind of videos you see in modern art museums than in a movie theatre. The movies from Germany, Ukraine and other countries have English subtitles where there are dialogues. This is the only screening in the festival program that has free entrance.
The award-winning movies are about communication difficulties between father and son, a Ukraine war victim returning to the place of trauma, a drone telling about story about the family it „lives“ in, difficulties in trying to embed LGBTQ into different parts of life, and a philosophical contemplation of why we work. Participants can switch between movies, listening in for some time. Since they don’t always have a linear story plot, there’s no problem watching just part of them. While watching all completely would probably take 1 1/2 hours or more, experience shows that most are ready in 1 hour or less. To use the time to discuss movies or just get to know other participants is also encouraged.
After watching the movies, we‘ll transfer to a cafe nearby to have a drink (and possibly by German tradition also cake), location to be decided also depending on preferences.
