After our wine hike, this time we do wine tasting without any hiking (and no risk to lose the group) by visiting a wine distributor in Liederbach, who offers free tasting of white&red wines (plus some distilled stuff) from many wineries of Germany‘s warmest state Baden-Württemberg.

The event is free of charge but the organiser issues tickets for the event. That explains the participant limit. I’ll expand the number of participants according to confirmed tickets. Even though last time the ticket check at the entrance was very relaxed, I would appreciate if some of you could order tickets (you’ll get 2, we share) at www.weinhaus-werner.de using the contact form you find on the bottom of the page Aktuelles, put „Tickets für Frühjahrsverkostung bitte“ as Nachricht and provide your address and phone number (they will never call you, promise, just send you leaflets for a while you can unsubscribe any time) or send a quick e-mail to info@weinhaus-werner.de. Tickets take a while to arrive, so please do it on Monday 25 May at latest. Please drop me a line if you order tickets, there can only be as many participants as we have tickets.

Depending on your constraints to finish work, you can join the early (Genießer) or a later (Auslese) group. The latter one will be a bit more than 2 hours at the tasting, but past experience has shown that this is tight for trying wines from all stalls, meet the group and have dinner before the closure of the event at 9pm, especially as trains may be delayed.

The early group meets 17:40 at platform 21 to take RB12 departing at 17:47, the later one 18:10 to depart 18:17. The distributor is a 3 Minute walk from the Liederbach Süd stop, which is still in the Frankfurt RMV zone 50. You’ll see the venue to the right when the train approaches the station, those who don’t have a Deutschlandticket can share a group day ticket for up to 5 persons. You can also join us at the distributor, we‘ll be at the entrance around 18:05-10 for the early and 18:35-40 for the late group. With your own ticket, you can also enter anytime later or earlier. There will be updates on location and time of dinner break.

The event is about tasting wines, you’ll rent a glass for a 2€ deposit (bring cash!!!) and start tasting wines, the tasting area is in sheltered tents so the event takes place at any weather. The plan is to have two sessions, try some wines until we’re tipsy, and then have a dinner break. The food that the distributor offers is usually Flammkuchen, sausages, pretzels and coffee/cakes at affordable prices. There’s no obligation to eat at the venue. After a second round of tastings there is also the option to buy any of the wines tasted to take home (at affordable wholesalers prices). If so, please be at the sales office around 20:50 placing the order that needs to be compiled in the warehouse which takes a few mins.

We return our glasses and meet at the exit at 21:10 to take the RB12 at 21:18 (there can also be an early group half hour earlier) back to Frankfurt, arriving 21:35.

Last time many people were hungry again when we reached Frankfurt so most of us went for late dinner, but this (or going for more drinks) is optional

The organiser does not take any responsibility for damage incurred from overconsumption of wine, but full responsibility for expected giggles on the return trip.
