Hey Storytellers & Story-listeners!
We meet monthly for an entertaining event with heart: storytelling.
It's a creative detour from the whizz and beep of our digital, urban lives. We come together as strangers, exchange stories, and somehow leave a bit more connected through our shared human experiences.
If you gotta story, we gotta stage! BUT, if you don't have a story - please come and enjoy listening.
You'll be inspired by the tales of ordinary Berliners going through extraordinary moments in their lives.
THE BEAR. true stories. told live.
Each bilingual evening consists of 8 randomly chosen stories in English and German. These amazing true personal stories are told live without notes. Each storyteller has the stage for 7 minutes of fame and glory!
Live music and lively audience interaction connects the evening led by the show host and Bear Dyane Neiman. Just for fun: Three teams of judges, choose the evening’s favorite story. Winners are invited for a Grand Slam every June.

We’re back! ... with a brand-new stage and a fresh season of true stories!🎭 Eight storytellers will take the mic to share something they’ve never told before: funny, moving, awkward, surprising. At the end of the night, the audience votes for their Favorite Story, and the winner advances to our annual showcase.

Who’s behind the evening?
This special workshop is co-hosted by Female Speaking Berlin (a community for womxn to grow their speaking confidence) and THE bEAR (Berlin’s English-language true storytelling stage, now in its 11th season).

Since 2015, THE bEAR has been bringing strangers together through 5-minute, unscripted stories told live: funny, moving, awkward, surprising. One mic, one light, one person, one story. Now Hamburg has its own bEAR stage, thanks to producer Eduard Kirchner and host Deepanker Dua.
Theme of the night: Discovery.
Stories of seeking, stumbling upon, and seeing with new eyes—from chance encounters to inner revelations.
