Lightning Talks & Discussion Circles: The Sustainable Shift – Business, Product, and Circular Impact

Join Thoughtworks Berlin and the Berlin Product Managers (bpm) community for an evening dedicated to Sustainability on July 9th, 2025, at our event space in Berlin. You can expect insightful lightning talks and engaging discussion circles focused on how to build and evolve compelling products with a sustainable future in mind.

Inspired by the spirit of YConf, this event series brings together curious minds at the intersection of customer experience, product, design, and technology. Our second event in this series dives deep into sustainability, exploring how businesses can integrate it for competitive advantage and long-term impact.

Our expert speakers will share practical insights and approaches to creating sustainable products and businesses:

  • Lina Bauer [Lead Consultant Business Analyst at Thoughtworks] & Patrick Hypscher [Circular Business Strategist, Founder of Green PO & Circularity.fm] on Green by Default: Practical Steps Toward Sustainable Products. This talk, based on the Digital Product Sustainability Pulse Report, will equip product teams with actionable steps to integrate sustainability, covering key barriers, leadership support, and the Product Owner's role.
  • Victor Matos [Designer at Aklamio] on Futurable Solutions: How Sustainability in the Design Process leads to Innovation, Profit, and Product Longevity. Victor will explore how sustainability can be a strategic lever for innovation, risk reduction, and competitive advantage within the design context and product development.
  • Jan von der Heyde [Founder & Managing Partner at Protellus] on Circular product-service system business models (PaaS) for sustainable impact. Jan will discuss how new circular PaaS business models can help businesses enhance their sustainability efforts.

Genevieve Brechel [Senior Service & Experience Designer at Thoughtworks] dedicated to building services, products and communities with impact, will be our MC for the evening.
Each speaker will then host a table where you can have a deeper dive into their topic, ask questions, and engage in more intimate conversations with fellow participants.

This is more than just a series of talks; it's a chance to connect with fellow professionals, share ideas, and be part of a community dedicated to building a more sustainable world.

Expect a dynamic evening with:

  • Concise, impactful lightning talks.
  • Lively discussion circles for deeper engagement.
  • Networking with drinks and food, fostering connections and conversations.
