Drawing Camp: Learn Drawing in 9 Weeks!
Drawing Camp: Learn Drawing in 9 Weeks!
Learn drawing from scratch! **…an innovative and holistic method combining body, mind, hand, and pencil.** Have you ever been frustrated because you don’t know how to draw? This course is for you! In just 9 sessions, we will cover the basics – preparing you to confidently grow your drawing practice. 08.12.25 **Shapes & Shades** 15.12.25 **Perspective 1** 22.12.25 *Online Option* **Perspective 2** 29.12.25 *Online Option* **Still Lives** 05.01.26 **Animals** 12.01.26 **Textures** 19.01.26 **Humans** 26.01.26 **Plants** 02.02.26 **Landscapes and Cityscapes** Course fee: €190,- **Sign up now via email to mail@kunstraum-heartspace.de** This is a 9-weeks course with weekly meetings! **More information?** Aber gerne 😌 Continue reading if you want to learn more: This weekly drawing course is designed **for beginners** and **for everyone who is looking for a systematic refreshment** of their skills. We take a unique and holistic approach to developping your drawing skills, taking into consideration the interconnectedness of body, mind, and soul. This class is also suitable as an after-work activity to clear your mind and body! **Why draw?** I like to consider drawing the skeleton or grammar of visual art. It is a precise way to decipher what we see: Drawing asks us to really understand the logic of what we see, to develop a calm hand, a precise gaze, and a logical understanding of shapes and shades. **Sequence of each session:** 1. We will start by a full-body warm-up exercise... 2. ...followed by a concentration meditation where we practice the skill of guiding our hand to do what our minds want. 3. We then come to the main part of the lesson: Practicing the depiction of particular objects, beings, and settings, while diving into different techniques of applying pencil to paper (*hatching, lines, smudging, creating surfaces*). Everything we see can be drawn using different approaches. I will teach you all of them, so you can understand which approach fits your individuality best (*grid, eye measurement and angles, measuring with hand and pencil, becoming what you see, drawing as writing*). 4. We will close by sharing our learnings (debrief). **What to bring:** 🤸‍♀️ Clothes that allow you to move freely (don't shy away from showing up in sports gear!) 📒 Highly recommended: Bring either an A4 sketchbook, or an A4 sketchpad plus A4 folder to store your drawings in. ✍️ A pencil! Can't wait to see you there! Your drawing instructor, Alice
klug machendes Gesellschafts-Spiel
klug machendes Gesellschafts-Spiel
\*\*\* english version \*\*\* "Can a whale be a parakeet?" \~> Of course not! "Can a window be a drink?" \~> Everyone knows that's impossible. "Can a democracy be a republic?" "Can a conjecture be an opinion?" "Is grasping something the same as understanding something?" \~> Well, now it gets tricky! And it gets exciting... Nothing stimulates thought quite like this new party game. The rules: 1. Everyone writes a term on a slip of paper. 2. The slips of paper are drawn in pairs. 3. We project the meaning of the two words onto the wall using a projector. 4. Everyone can add to/edit the meaning using a laptop or smartphone, and must provide examples of why something could be the same, or could never be the same. 5. After a while, no one can think of anything else. The differences and similarities between the two words are clearly highlighted. Then the score is tallied: (+1) Each new entry adding meaning earns one point. (-2) However, each deleted entry deducts two points. (+5) Each improvement on the existing meaning in Reclue earns five points. The understanding of all players becomes much clearer, especially with frequent play. And the winners with the highest score receive the prize of the day. The game also works in multiple languages. You may join us from home using the internet. Comments in meetup-app will be used to organize that it works. The location (somewhere in Prenzlauer Berg) will be published the day when it takes place.

🌙 Waiting for Midnight: A NYE for Those Who Don't Do Loud Countdown
🌙 Waiting for Midnight: A NYE for Those Who Don't Do Loud Countdown
**A Vietnamese home-style New Year’s Eve for those spending the night in Berlin.** On New Year’s Eve, many things in Berlin revolve around noise, countdowns, and party plans made weeks in advance. For a homebody like me, I often feel a little out of place. And this year, I suddenly don’t feel like spending the holiday alone. So I’m opening my kitchen for a spontaneous, cozy and low-key New Year’s Eve gathering. **The Story** It was a culture shock for me to realize that New Year’s Eve in Europe doesn’t have a strong family focus. In Vietnam, it does. In my family, New Year’s Eve get-together has never been about showing up when dinner is ready. One family hosts, but everyone helps. We arrive hours early. We cook together, snack in the kitchen, drink a little wine, talk, and catch up. The food is finished before midnight, but we don’t eat yet. At midnight, we gather, make a toast, welcome the new year, and only then do we sit down and eat together. This evening follows that tradition. **What the evening looks like** * **Cooking together** I’ll show you how to make Vietnamese fried spring rolls using my family recipe. If you’re curious, I’ll also share how I prepare other dishes on the menu. * **Year-end reflection** Before eating, we’ll take a short pause to reflect on the year that’s ending. You’ll be invited to write a short letter to yourself for the year ahead. I’ll keep your sealed letter and send it back to you in January, and then remind you to open it one year from now. * **Midnight** We eat and celebrate together after midnight. **The NYE Menu** * **Chả giò chiên** – Vietnamese fried spring rolls *(we’ll roll them together; some will be fried for the night, and if there's leftover, you're welcome to take some home. So don't be shy and bring your Tupperware!)* * **Cánh gà chiên nước mắm tỏi** – garlic fish sauce fried chicken * **Thịt ba rọi quay** – crispy roasted pork belly * A **small, sweet dessert surprise** Drinks (tea, water, & a reasonable casual-drinking amount of wine/beer) are included. No vegan or vegetarian option will be available for this dinner. Stay up to date on future events: 📌 Meetup: https://shorturl.at/oqEOS 📌 Instagram: **@homecookedstories.trang** 📌 WhatsApp (event announcements only): https://lnkd.in/erGdGMYr **Good to Know** 📍 **Location:** Pankow, Berlin (M2 tram stop Prenzlauer Promenade / Am Steinberg — exact address shared after RSVP) 📅 **Date:** Tuesday, December 31, event starts at 8:30PM and meal starts after midnight 💶 **Contribution:** **€40 per person** (includes food, drinks, and the full experience) 👥 **Seats:** Limited to **6 guests** Payment details will be shared after RSVP confirmation.

December Book Club/White Elephant Book Exchange
December Book Club/White Elephant Book Exchange
Welcome, readers! ❄️ Our December read is **_A Quiet Life by Ethan Joella._** A Quiet Life by Ethan Joella is a tender, character-driven novel that follows three people in a small Pennsylvania town as they each cope with loss and seek connection. Chuck, a widower, struggles to find meaning after his wife’s death; Ella, a young woman, faces the heartbreak of her missing daughter; and Kirsten, a veterinary technician, grieves her father while contemplating her future. Their stories intertwine gently, revealing how grief and hope coexist—and how even small acts of kindness can help people rediscover purpose and peace in the aftermath of tragedy. Looking forward to discussing with everyone! At this meeting, our third annual White Elephant book exchange will take place! If you'd like to participate, bring a gift-wrapped book that you already own. On the gift wrap, write the genre of the book. We will meet at Zaftig Brewing Co in their event room in the back. We are welcome to bring in our own food, but **drinks must be purchased at the bar.** Happy reading! 📖

Our January program is privileged to have Kristen Tregar as our speaker. Ms. Tregar is the co-author with John de Lancie (the actor who portrayed the character Q on Star Trek next generation) of a radio play depicting the events surrounding the Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District trial. The trial decided the issue of some of the Dover school district board members attempting to insert creationism disguised as "intelligent design" into the 9th grade biology curriculum. She will discuss the trial and the process of writing the play. (Bob Leonhard has seen the play and it is riveting and tense). Ms. Tregar's bio is below: Kristen Tregar is a dramaturg, director, playwright, and theatre teacher. She earned her Ph.D. in Drama and Theatre from the UC San Diego and UC Irvine joint program. In addition, she has a MS in Forensic Science from City University of New York- John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a MA in Educational Theatre from New York University- Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. In 2013, in collaboration with Irish colleagues, she founded *The Ireland Project*, an intercontinental devised theatre work with high school students in New York and Tallaght, Ireland. Her original short story "Far From Here" was recently published in *Stay Awhile Longer: More Scenes From Temecula Valley*.
