In this session we'll discuss the polarities of the zodiacal wheel. While many people see the Zodiac as a set of 12 signs, astrologers tend look in deeper and interpret the wheel as 6 axis of two opposites yet complementary signs. Just like light cannot exist without darkness, it is the same for the signs, and they need to be balanced to reach harmony. As such, Aries without Libra would probably a ruthless warrior, Libra brings in diplomacy and tact, making Aries into a wiser and strategic soldier. While Libra without Aries would get stuck in a mire of indecisions through life, unable to advocate for him or herself, or assert themselves. This example can be repeated with all the polar oppositions in the Zodiac. ### The deeper idea In astrology, growth often comes not from doubling down on your dominant traits, but from integrating your opposite sign. If someone strongly identifies with one side of the axis, life experiences (and relationships) tend to “pull in” the opposite energy to restore equilibrium. Psychologically, this mirrors concepts like **integration of the shadow** (from Carl Jung): the parts of ourselves we don’t consciously identify with often show up externally—through others or circumstances—until we learn to incorporate them. Context Maps make the big picture of a system explicit: which bounded contexts exist, how they relate to each other, and where the friction, dependencies, and power dynamics between teams actually live. They help you make better decisions about integration strategies, team ownership, and where to invest in clean boundaries versus where to accept pragmatic compromise. The training consists of the continuous repetition of fixed sequences of movements (kata) and includes the use of classic Japanese weapons such as the sword (iai-jutsu, battō-jutsu, ken-jutsu, ryōtō-jutsu, kodachi-jutsu), the long staff (bō-jutsu), the lance (naginata-jutsu) and the spear (sō-jutsu), as well as unarmed disciplines, tactics and spiritual aspects. **The Katori Berlin dojo** is the only official shibu of Otake Nobutoshi-shihan’s dojo Shinbukan in Germany and fully dedicated to the transmission and study of one martial tradition: Tenshinshō-den Katori Shintō-ryū. Through these efforts we aim to contribute to the cultural preservation of this martial tradition. The dojo has one officially appointed shidosha. **Our sensei**: Sebastian Graetz has been active in martial arts since 1997. After almost 15 years of taekwondo in Berlin, he started with Katori Shintō-ryū in Asia in 2014. Since then, he has studied in Japan with Ōtake Risuke-shihan and Ōtake Nobutoshi-shihan, and in Vietnam with Malte Stokhof-shihandai. In 2023, he received his Menkyo license and permission to set up a training group in Berlin the following year.

Providing Images for Critique: For now, I will collect images at the beginning of the meeting on a USB memory stick. My computer has USB-C ports, so a USB-C memory stick or one with dual (USB-C / USB-A) ports will be needed. Images should follow these format rules: JPG - 80% quality or higher 132 dpi resolution 2048 pixels across the long edge Embedded colorspace - sRGB

BuckeyeCocoa is a group of Objective-C/Swift developers/enthusiasts. We host monthly Cocoaheads and near-weekly NSCoder meetings in Columbus, Ohio. The meetings are free to attend. Presentations!
