Welcome to our third Women in Big Data Düsseldorf Chapter Meetup!

In this chapter event, we will share insights into data-driven innovation in product development, and agile methods in the Data Science domain! Learn how AI and ML technologies and can help to deliver the competitive edge to products and services, and which challenges data scientists face in the agile product development environment.

We can define agile development as settled within todays IT world. However, once you are a product owner within the data science domain, a question of how to bring agile and Data Science together arises. How to balance: room for exploration vs. working software at the end of the day, gaining for even more accuracy vs. shorter time to market, optimal combination of engineers and data scientists. Is there actually such a thing as an mvp within data science products? Being a product owner within the data science domain, I would like to share my lessons learnt on the above topics.

How can we solve the problem of providing customized main-images for hotels in the landing page for trivago users searching for the concept of spa and wellness hotels. The presentation focuses on the journey of how we came up with image processing and deep learning solutions to build models for extracting concepts such as spa, gym, yoga, pool, sauna, etc. out of hotel images. And finally a demo of our model's sense of humour!
