We are excited to announce a 15x4 special event - Stars & The City! 🔭

Paul Salazar, entrepreneur and hobby astronomer, brings you on a journey through the night sky. In this "street astronomy" event, you can discover hidden stories about our universe and explore the stars and other space objects with telescopes.

🌕 What can we see in the summer sky? The moon, some planets (Venus, Saturn), summer constellations, binaries and star clusters including the summer triangle.

💡Bring your curiosity! This is an interactive event - Paul is more than happy to answer your questions about the night sky. Perhaps you wonder where the Orion Nebula is, or how far is Mars from Earth?

🎟️ Please buy the tickets on Eventbrite.

The ticket price for this event is 8 EUR. The proceeds from ticket sales will be used by the team to organize future events, giveaways and support our efforts in sharing knowledge!

When?

August 19th 2023

20:00-23:00

Where?

English Garden, Werneckwiese

The exact location will be shared with attendees shortly before the event.

### About Paul Salazar

Entrepreneur and amateur astronomer Paul Salazar sits at a cross-section of different paths in life. Stemming from Mexican and Armenian roots, he’s a native of Los Angeles. His 30-year software and tech career led him up the California coastline to Silicon Valley before diverting across the globe to Munich, Germany. Despite Paul’s journeys across our planet, he’s always had his eyes on the skies. His passion for astronomy is something that he wants to share with the world around him. A natural teacher, he wants to not only improve the world but enrich it; it is Paul’s ultimate goal to use his knowledge, passion, and zest for the stars as a driving force for minds (young and old) around him. Paul is a storyteller, an optimist, a traveler, a sidewalk astronomer, a coffee-drinker.

### Important notes

Please be aware that the event is heavily dependent on weather conditions and might be postponed.

Please dress warmly, especially on your head and feet. Windproof clothing also helps. The effect of the coolness of standing outside is often underestimated, even when it is very warm during the day.

Please bring a flashlight with you to find your way around and for your journey home at night.

At the same time, if possible, please avoid using white light during the event (such as flashlights and mobile phones). If necessary, only point lamps directly in front of you on the floor. The human eye needs at least 15 minutes of dark adaptation before it is able to detect faint astronomical objects in the sky or in the telescope. In astronomy, people use red light flashlights that hardly interfere with dark vision, which you can also easily make by sticking a piece of red foil in front of the lamp.
