„Every bottle has a story.“ - In this Blockchain Monday we’ll learn the about the fabulous symbiosis between Fine Wine and Blockchain Technology. Each of VinIDs bottles is sealed with an NFC tag (same technology as contactless banking cards). Customers can easily communicate with the bottle by scanning the seal (NFC tag) with their smartphone (no app needed). This opens up new and exciting opportunities:

2. Provenance – Authenticity and Transparency
Through the combination of the special vinID seal and blockchain technology, each bottle gets its own digital passport setting a new standard for authenticity as well as transparency.

Get full control over your supply by geography and distribution channels. The Opening Detection gives an inventory overview over different vintages.

These are some of the immediate benefits. It is also possible to standardise subscriptions and for vintners to participate in secondary market transactions.

About the speaker

Sebastian Schier is responsible for the development of vinID (collectID solution for fine wine). Sebastian has completed the WSET Level 3 in 2015 and is currently studying for the „Weinakademiker Diploma“ (WSET 4). Prior to his engagement with Fine Wine Sebastian has worked in the financial industry for 15 years. He holds a double diploma in European Business Studies from Oxford Brookes University and the University of Applied Sciences in Regensburg.
