Information on speakers and talks:
David Sterz: A FinOps story about container, cloud costs and collaboration
In 2019, the FinOps Foundation was founded to disseminate best practices around Cloud Financial Management or Finance and DevOps, in short FinOps. Similar to DevOps, the main focus is on collaboration between the two worlds, using cost transparency to achieve a common view and improve communication between executives, business, finance and development with the goal of cost efficiency or in other words: value maximization.
In addition to the brief general introduction to FinOps, we will look at a FinOps implementation on Kubernetes with a platform team and multiple development teams to better understand why collaboration is a key focus and how the FinOps framework can help.
We will then invite all attendees to ask their questions and share their own stories and experiences.

About David
David Sterz is a Solutions Architect at Mindcurv. He helps clients build and launch B2B and B2C platforms. With over 15 years of cloud experience in diverse roles from software developer to systems engineer and platform architect, he has most enjoyed optimizing platforms for availability, scalability and cost efficiency and is currently focused on enabling teams, preferably on Kubernetes with a focus on FinOps. He is an active FinOps Foundation member and has participated in a number of working groups and publications, and has given talks on FinOps at a wide variety of conferences.

John Platt: How Machine Learning helped us
One of the biggest problems to establish FinOps is to make engineers take action. Here is how machine learning helped us find the best right-sizing recommendations for your Kubernetes deployments and relief engineers from doing it manually.

About John Platt
John is VP of Machine Learning at StormForge.
