Session abstract:

Intel provides end to end solution for Autonomous driving, from labelling of the collected data, training in the cloud, connecting via 5G and scoring in a car. The solution is a constellation of tools, frameworks and hardware platforms. This presentation introduces a part of the complete solution and shows how easily, using a unified tool chain, different architectures (e.g. Xeon and FPGA) can be targeted. Michael Steyer is a technical consulting engineer supporting technical and high performance computing segments within the Software & Services Group at Intel.

Karl Neumayer is working for Intel Programmable Solutions Group as a System FAE for acceleration in automotive systems.

Dr. Hardik Shah is a Field Application Engineer working for Intel Programmable Solutions Group in Central European team.

Session abstact:

Connected and autonomous vehicles are multi-CPU systems with complex software content, gateways, sensors, cameras, multi-mode connectivity and more. Software developers face a huge challenge to integrate all of this technology and, most importantly, ensure that all facets of vehicle safety and security are addressed throughout development and into production. This development is an enormous task and presents a sophisticated threat profile. The OEM management team responsible for safety and security of the vehicle are ultimately liable in the event of an out of control vehicle causing damage or taking innocent lives.

This talk will examine the link between safety and security, the threats and where they come from, and the multi-step approach to developing well-architected vehicle electronics.

Speaker Bio:

Chris Tubbs is an industry veteran with 42 years’ experience in the Avionics, Simulation, Medical, Automotive and Software Industries. After 15 years in the Aerospace industry managing safety critical systems he co- founded companies in the Simulation and Medical Imaging markets in the roles of Commercial and Managing Director. He then spent eight Years in the Automotive industry in Germany and Holland as a Development and Business Development Manager after which he joined Green Hills Software in 2008. Chris was promoted to Director of Business Development EMEA in 2012 since when he has specialized in Safety and Security.

Old school mapping is slow, expensive and doesn't scale, how do we change that as preparation for the world of autonomous vehicles

Speaker Bio:

Leading Mapillary's automotive initiatives for providing data and services for the future of cars based on Mapillary's street-level imagery platform, powered by collaboration and computer vision. Emil has been working within the automotive field for more than a decade. Starting with TAT The Astonishing Tribe, he had the responsibility for building up the Business Area Automotive from scratch. After that, joined the BlackBerry / QNX and had the responsibility for the business development in EMEA. Emil holds a Master of Science degree in Electronical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University Sweden.
