Robocars and Roborace: Preparation for the race
Details
This time we are going to start out Meetup with a very interesting talk from Dmytro Prylipko — a Senior ML Engineer from SafeAD (and one of the meetup hosts and organisers) on how to build a simple basic Robocar (and win the race with it;))
Timetable:
18:30 - Doors are open
18:45 - Talk about robocars basics, building and running the first model
19:30 - Time to work on the track!
Who we are: we are a community of people who loves to work on robots that move with a lot of specialists from autonomous driving world.
How we do it: we have an amazing track for robocars to test our robots. We meet once a month to share the progress and train our models.
What do we plan: We will have a race in December with cool prizes from our sponsor. During the race, each vehicle should show that it stays stable on the track and can drive loops autonomously. The fastest car wins! It is not late to start with your model yet - you can easily build and train an autonomous model in two month;)
Rules for the race:
- Every car must make at least 3 loops in a row without human intervention.
- Fastest of these loops counts (so you can gradually increase speed on the track;).
- There are two paths available with the same starting point: a long loop for lane holding and an obstacle avoidance loop. The obstacle avoidance loop is shorter than just lane holding, but for each cone hit 2 seconds are added to your total score. Each participant is free to choose which loop to take.
- The vehicle can leave the track if it comes back and it did not take a shortcut.
You don’t have a car yet, but want to build your own? Just come, and we will help you! We also have teams who will be happy for new joiners. Even if your car is not the fastest, our main goal is to learn and improve our robotics skills.
