Über uns
A Basic Income (also called universal basic income (UBI), unconditional basic income, basic income guarantee), is a liveable wage provided to all citizens unconditionally. It's a complex issue that is discussed more fully on our website: https://basicincomeaustralia.com/
This group will have three main objectives:
1. Discuss and refine the concept - good ideas aren't born out of thin air, they have to be critiqued and analysed from every angle.
2. Publicise the idea and expand the public discussion - through targeted marketing campaigns and creating educational tools.
3. Campaign politically - confirming where politicians stand, promoting candidates who support it and pushing our own candidates as a last resort.

Deep discussion - Crime, Punishment & Universal Basic Income
·OnlineOnlineHow does crime intersect with the fight for Universal Basic Income (UBI)? Would unconditional income reduce crime by easing poverty and insecurity, or would it change very little? And should people who commit crimes still receive a UBI, including while in prison?
Join Basic Income Australia for a Deep Discussion on crime, punishment, and economic justice. This interactive session will explore evidence, ethics, and uncomfortable questions about universality, rehabilitation, and what we actually want our justice system to achieve. Let's navigate these choppy waters together <3.Hosted on Zoom: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/82527159640

This event is for people who want to make a Basic Income a reality in Australia.
If we're going to make an Unconditional Livable Wage For All a reality in Australia then we're going to need to organise marketing campaigns, hold events, pressure politicians and more.
Connect with a national network of Basic Income advocates in this monthly meeting as we discuss and strategise tactics.
If you're feeling shy about coming along and voicing your opinions and strategic ideas, just remember that the movement can never grow if new people don't join in.

BIA - Book Club - Welfare for Markets: A Global History of Basic Income

For our third 2026 book club, we’ll be reading Welfare for Markets by Anton Jager and Daniel Zamora Vargas, a sharp and sometimes challenging history of basic income as an idea.
Rather than treating UBI as a purely progressive project, this book traces how basic income has been taken up across very different political traditions, including neoliberal and market-focused ones. It asks hard questions about who supports UBI, why, and what kinds of economic systems it might ultimately serve.
This is a great book for stretching our thinking, testing assumptions, and having a more critical conversation about strategy, power, and political context. Come along ready to debate, disagree, and dig into the uncomfortable bits together.1 Teilnehmer
