Challenges in microbiome translational research
Department of Biomedicine (DBM), Hebelstrasse 20, Basel, CHJoin us for the next BioData Basel meetup, this time hosted at the Department of Biomedicine (DBM), University of Basel and University Hospital Basel! Co-promoted with Bits in Bio.
Speaker: Vivien Pichon, PhD student at the University of Fribourg
Vivien combines Targeted Amplicon Sequencing metagenomics with high-throughput microbiological bioassays. He will tell us about the tools and workflows he uses, and share with us the challenges facing the application of microbiome research for crop protection.
As always, the focus is on methods and technical knowledge — a great opportunity to learn about microbiome analysis approaches and exchange ideas across disciplines. No prior experience with microbiome bioinformatics required, just curiosity!Details:
- Date: Thursday, 9 April 2026
- Time: 18:00 – 19:30
- Location: DBM, Hebelstrasse 20, Basel (Seminar Room, 2nd floor)
Open to everyone — BioData Basel members, Bits in Bio members, DBM researchers, the DBM Bioinformatics Core Facility, and anyone interested in computational biology. Networking afterwards is welcome!
