Agenda
7 PM: Arrive at Zalando, grab snacks and drinks!
7:10 PM: Kickoff with welcome/hello and intro to Zalando
7:20 - 7:50 PM: First presentation:
Sandor Szuecs (Zalando Tech) - Automatic infrastructure for Kubernetes ingress in AWS
At Zalando we have 258 AWS accounts and 25 Kubernetes clusters running on AWS. We have to make sure that feature teams do not have to do more work than needed to deploy their application and publish endpoints. Creating a Kubernetes ingress object is enough to provision an AWS Application Load Balancer (ALB) including automated SSL certificate lookup and TLS termination, HTTP routing based on our ingress implementation and a public resolvable DNS entry. This talk will explain the stack and deep dive into how thisworks for us.
7:50 - 8 PM: 10 minutes Q&A
8 - 8:30 PM: Second talk:
Daniel Berman (Logz.io) - Of ELKs and Whales: Logging in a Dockerized World
Logging remains one of the most valuable ways to troubleshoot and monitor our applications, but in software development today, the task has become extremely difficult due to the nature of modern environments. In this talk, I will details the various challenges facing developers in a microservices and Dockerized world, and how to use ELK to tackle them with centralized logging and a touch of machine learning.
8:30 - 8:40 PM: 10 minutes Q&A
8:40 - 9:10 PM: Third presentation:
Michael Pleshakov (NGINX) - Load Balancing Web Applications on Kubernetes with NGINX
Michael Pleshakov will talk about HTTP load balancing on Kubernetes. You will learn how to configure load balancing for a web application using a Kubernetes Ingress resource and how to deploy and use NGINX Ingress controller. At the end, Michael will explain how NGINX Plus and NGINX compare and introduce the NGINX Plus developer license.
9:10 - 9:20 PM: Q&A
9:20 - 10 PM: Happy Networking
