EA Meetup With Talks

EA sollte sich mehr auf das Potential von Gruppen, Organisationen und Institutionen konzentrieren, statt Individuen in den Vordergrund zu stellen. Dies ist eine häufige Kritik. in diesem Meetup wird uns Alma Barmer einen Überblick über diese Argumente geben, ihre Varianten und deren Validität.

Wie gewöhnlich starten wir den Abend um 18:30 Uhr mit einem kurzen allgemeinen Einführungsvortrag zum Effektiven Altruismus. Dieser ist besonders für Neulinge geeignet. Danach geht es um 19 Uhr weiter mit dem Hauptthema des Abends, zu dem man auch nachkommen kann. Im Anschluss kann bei Snacks und Getränken noch ausgiebig weiterdiskutiert werden.

EA errs in focusing on what individuals can achieve on their own instead of focusing on what the community (or an institution) can achieve. This is an often repeated criticism. In this Meetup, Alma Barner gives us an overview of such criticisms and replies to it.

As usual, we begin at 18:30 with a short introductory talk on Effective Altruism in general. This is especially useful if you are new to the topic. After the introductory talk, around 19:00 we'll move on to the main topic of the evening. You can then grab some snacks and drinks, meet people, and engage in discussions about Effective Altruism or anything else you are interested in.
