Welcome to the 2nd Java Meetup Leipzig!

This time, we’re focusing on a topic that’s on many people’s minds—but is rarely discussed openly: AI in software development / AI in the developer’s daily routine.

... Not as hype, but as an honest assessment.

True to the motto “Conferences showcase AI tools. We showcase AI projects,” we want to show what’s really working… or what isn’t.

Which projects have worked, and which haven’t?

Where has AI saved time, and where has it generated miles of nonsensical code?

With the 2nd Java Meetup, we want to address exactly these questions. We’ve noticed that the topic of “AI in software development” resonates with many developers, and alongside euphoria and skepticism, a certain sense of concern is sweeping the industry.

💡So what can you expect?

→ Hands-on talks from the community*: 2–3 developers from the community will showcase real projects—what worked, what didn’t, and what they would do differently next time

→ Live coding with AI: René Schwietzke (Xceptance) will demonstrate live what AI-assisted development looks like in practice

→ Moderated expert panel – open to all: “Is Vibe Coding Worth It?” – with Prof. Both (HTWK), René Schwietzke, and Friedrich Schirmer (practicing software developer)

Willkommen beim 2. Java Meetup Leipzig!

Diesmal widmen wir uns um einem Thema, das viele beschäftigt - aber selten offen diskutiert wird: KI im Software Development / KI im Entwickleralltag. Nicht als Hype, sondern als ehrliche Bestandsaufnahme.

Ganz nach dem Motto "Konferenzen zeigen KI-Tools. Wir zeigen KI-Projekte." wollen wir zeigen, was wirklich läuft... oder eben auch nicht.

• Welche Projekte haben funktioniert, welche nicht?
• Wo hat die KI Zeit gespart und wo hat sie kilometerlangen, unsinnigen Code erstellt?

Mit dem 2. Java Meetup wollen wir uns genau diesen Fragen stellen. Denn haben festgestellt, dass das Thema "KI im Software Development" viele EntwicklerInnen bewegt und neben Euphorie und Skepsis, auch eine gewisse Sorge die Branche erfasst.

💡Was erwartet euch also?

→ Praxis-Talks aus der Community*: 2–3 Entwicklerinnen und Entwickler aus der Community zeigen echte Projekte – was funktioniert hat, was nicht, und was sie beim nächsten Mal anders machen würden

→ Live Coding mit KI: René Schwietzke (Xceptance) zeigt live, wie KI-gestütztes Entwickeln in der Praxis aussieht

→ moderierter Expert Panel - offen für alle: "Lohnt sich Vibe Coding?" – mit Prof. Both (HTWK), René Schwietzke und Friedrich Schirmer (Software Developer aus der Praxis)

Bringt gerne eigene Erfahrungen mit – gut oder schlecht. Genau darum geht's.
