JUG BB: Pre-SAG Special @ JetBrains with Chris Richardson
JetBrains GmbH, 53 Cuvrystraße, Berlin, DEJust before the iSAQB Software Architecture Gathering 2026 kicks off in Berlin, we're getting the community together for a special pre-SAG evening at the JetBrains office!
Whether you're attending SAG or simply interested in software architecture, Java and the impact of GenAI on software delivery, you're very welcome to join us.
🎤 Chris Richardson
Fast Outer and Inner Loops: Prerequisites for GenAI-Powered Software Delivery
GenAI coding agents have the potential to rapidly make changes. But an agent does more than edit files: it makes design decisions, runs tests, pushes changes through the deployment pipeline into production, and analyzes the results.
These steps form the same two loops that human developers use: the outer change-deploy-analyze loop and the inner edit-test-analyze loop. Agents fulfill their potential only when both loops are fast.
Chris will explain how architecture determines the speed of both loops and introduce six architecture and design techniques for making them faster. He'll also explore why organizations using coding agents can outgrow a monolith sooner, and the signals that indicate when it may be time to move toward microservices.
About Chris
Chris Richardson helps organizations modernize their application architectures to accelerate software delivery and enable fast, sustainable flow, a prerequisite for effectively using coding agents.
He is the creator of Microservices.io, author of Microservices Patterns and POJOs in Action, and founder of Eventuate. Earlier in his career, Chris founded the original CloudFoundry.com, an early Java PaaS for Amazon EC2. He speaks internationally about software architecture and architecting for fast flow.

Gleb Melnikov | Rethinking the IDE for Coding Agents
This session explores how JetBrains is evolving the IDE for agentic development through Air. Practical examples reveal the product decisions and tradeoffs behind new developer workflows, from delegating tasks to investigating results. Attendees will learn why the IDE still matters when agents write code, and how it helps developers stay in control of the software they ship.
Speaker info:
Gleb leads product strategy for JetBrains AI across IntelliJ-based IDEs, focusing on AI coding tools that developers can trust. His work covers agentic IDE experiences, agent workflows, in-IDE agent UX, and agent evaluation.🎤 Community Speaker

WARD AI: Quality Guardrails for AI Coding Agents
AI coding agents can write code faster than ever, but how do we ensure that code meets our quality, architectural, and security standards without constantly supervising every change?
WARD AI is an open-source CLI that automates quality gates for AI-assisted development. It integrates with coding agents such as Junie, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, OpenCode, or Codex, enforcing project-specific rules through automated checks covering testing, code quality, architecture, and security.
In this talk, Ricardo Romero will demonstrate how WARD AI moves engineering standards out of prompts and into the development workflow, providing immediate feedback after edits and progressively stricter checks before commits, pushes, and CI. The goal is to let AI agents work more autonomously while keeping developers in control of the quality of the code they ship.
