Heidelberg Hike: Philosophenweg, Heiligenberg - 6 km, 340 hm

Why not go to Heidelberg once in a while? It's a nice old town sandwiched between hills on both sides, which makes for great hiking and views.
We're going to go the classic Philosophenweg with celebrated views with an extension to the top of the hill Heiligenberg. Sites there include two monasteries and the Thingstätte (an open-air theatre built in the Third Reich). There's also a restaurant where we can take a bathroom break and maybe have a hot drink.
After the hike, it would be nice to go to a cafe in the old town.
Getting there:
- From Karlsruhe Hbf, take the RE at 11:13 (track 4).
- Let's meet at Heidelberg Hbf in the hall around 11:55.
- We'll take a tram from there to the starting point of the hike.
What to bring:
- water and snacks
- weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes
