Knowledge, Science & Spirituality

Why do some people believe that major events are secretly orchestrated by powerful groups? Why can certain conspiracy theories seem more convincing than official explanations, even when evidence is limited or contradictory?

In this discussion, we'll explore the psychology behind conspiracy thinking and the way our minds process uncertainty, information, and suspicion. We'll look at why humans tend to search for patterns and hidden connections, why some beliefs become so deeply rooted, and why it can be difficult to change someone's mind once they believe they've uncovered a hidden truth.

We'll also explore the fine line between healthy skepticism and conspiracy thinking. Is questioning official narratives a sign of critical thinking, or can our desire to question everything sometimes lead us in the wrong direction?

Let's take a closer look at the psychology of suspicion and our complicated relationship with the truth.

(This might be the first event of a Series, which will explore the topic of Conspiracy).

A few things to keep in mind:

• Stay on topic: Please keep the conversation focused on the topic and related questions. Everyone should have the opportunity to contribute to the discussion.
• Respect different perspectives: We may have very different beliefs and opinions. Please listen to others without judgment, and approach the conversation with an open mind.
• Be open-minded: You don't have to agree with everyone, but try to understand different viewpoints and be willing to question your own assumptions.
• Community update: In the future, this group may move from Meetup to Luma. I'll share more information if and when that happens.
• Waiting List Dynamics: If you're on the waiting list, you'll need to wait for someone to cancel their RSVP before a spot becomes available. I've only booked a table for 8 people, so unfortunately, I can't guarantee that everyone on the waiting list will be able to join. Meetup automatically moves the first person on the waiting list into the event when someone cancels, so please keep an eye on your RSVP status. Please only attend if your RSVP is confirmed. Being on the waiting list does not guarantee you a spot, even if someone doesn't show up. I won't be able to accommodate additional people without a confirmed reservation.
• Language: The event is in English.
